COLUMBUS - The Ohio House Democrats today highlighted that while Ohio families continue to struggle with rising costs for housing, groceries, childcare, and health care, the Republican majority went on a five month recess for the summer without taking meaningful action to address the affordability challenges facing working people across our state.

COLUMBUS — State Reps. Christine Cockley (D-Columbus) and Crystal Lett (D-Columbus) Friday introduced legislation that would require data centers to report monthly and yearly water consumption and to prohibit data centers from including water consumption information in nondisclosure agreements with political subdivisions. 

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Jewish Caucus today announced the passage of Senate Bill (SB) 450, the state's biennial capital appropriations budget. The bill allocates nearly $4B for the maintenance, renovation, and construction of state-owned infrastructure, including colleges, universities, school districts, and other community projects.  

COLUMBUS — Ohio House Minority Leader Dani Isaacsohn (D-Cincinnati), on behalf of the Ohio House Democratic Caucus, today issued the following statement on House Bill (HB) 730 and proposed changes to SNAP administrative funding that fail to meet the need and would leave thousands of Ohio veterans, children, and community members hungry.

COLUMBUS – Reps. Tristan Rader (D – Cleveland) and Sean Brennan (D – Parma) sent a letter urging Governor DeWine to veto Substitute House Bill 173. This letter cites concerns regarding the conflicting regulatory frameworks between HB 173 and the one laid out in the recent Ohio Supreme Court Ruling In re Complaint of Ohio Power Co. v. Nationwide Energy Partners, L.L.C.

COLUMBUS - Minority Leader Dani Isaacsohn (D-Cincinnati) today released the following statement regarding this morning’s reported raids of the Ohio Organizing Collaborative’s Cleveland office, questioning of staff and community members, and seizure of laptops and other devices:

COLUMBUS – State Reps. Cecil Thomas (D-Cincinnati) and Meredith Lawson-Rowe (D-Reynoldsburg) announced today the unanimous passage of House Bill 452, which would designate October 1 as 761st Tank Battalion Day in Ohio, by the House Veterans and Military Development Committee.

COLUMBUS — State Reps. Joe Miller (D-Amherst) and Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) Wednesday introduced a bill to provide absentee ballot drop boxes at every polling place and to allow absentee ballots to be dropped off at any box within the county it was issued in.

COLUMBUS – State Reps. Abdullahi (D-Columbus) and Tristan Rader (D-Lakewood) last week introduced legislation that would create a state-funded, tuition-free public higher education for all Ohio students.

COLUMBUS — State Reps. Rachel Baker (D-Cincinnati) and Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) Wednesday  introduced House Bill (HB) 740, which would allow medical providers to display an informational poster regarding medical benefits and services offered for veterans.  

COLUMBUS – Last week, State Reps. Cockley (D-Columbus) and Rader (D-Lakewood) this week introduced House Bill (HB) 853. This legislation would require decommission plans to be submitted to the Ohio Power Siting Board and submit safety plans to local fire departments prior to construction of a natural gas fuel cell facility.
