COLUMBUS – State Rep. Veronica Sims (D-Akron) today announced her completion of the 2026 John Glenn Ohio Leadership Academy at The Ohio State University, where she joined a bipartisan cohort of elected officials and leaders from across Ohio for an immersive week dedicated to leadership, public service, and collaboration.

“This past week was full of robust exploration, engagement, and growth. I am so immensely grateful to have had this incredible opportunity and to have met and learned alongside a bipartisan group of amazing leaders from across our great state,” said Rep. Sims. “There is no question that this experience has sharpened my skills as a legislator. I cannot wait to bring the knowledge and perspective I have gained back to the Ohio House as I continue working to improve the lives of the people of Ohio’s 33rd House District.”

The academy is designed to strengthen public leadership by bringing together elected officials from different communities and perspectives to reflect on their call to serve, explore common interests, and build relationships across jurisdictions. The program emphasizes the importance of collaboration and thoughtful leadership in addressing the challenges facing communities across the state.

As part of this year’s academy, participants also had the opportunity to engage with students participating in the John Glenn College of Public Affairs’ Democracy Camp, fostering conversations between current and future leaders committed to public service.
