COLUMBUS — State Rep. Tristan Rader (D-Lakewood) today announced that he has been appointed to the Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB), the state agency responsible for approving the siting of major utility facilities and economically significant wind farms. The OPSB ensures that these facilities meet requirements specified in Ohio law, balancing the state’s economic interests with environmental protection and land use considerations.

“I am honored to join the Ohio Power Siting Board,” said Rep. Rader. “This appointment provides an opportunity to ensure that our energy infrastructure development aligns with our commitment to environmental stewardship and the well-being of all Ohioans. I look forward to contributing to the responsible siting of energy projects that will power our state’s future.”

The OPSB’s mission is to support sound energy policies that provide for the installation of critical infrastructure while protecting the interests of Ohio communities, landowners, and the environment. The board reviews applications for the construction of power plants, electric transmission lines, gas pipelines, and renewable energy projects to ensure they comply with state regulations and best practices.

Rep. Rader brings extensive experience in the clean energy sector to the board. His leadership in advancing solar accessibility and advocating for pro-consumer energy policies has been instrumental in shaping Ohio’s renewable energy landscape.

“As Ohio moves toward a more sustainable and resilient energy future, we must ensure that our policies encourage investment in clean energy while protecting the rights of communities and landowners,” Rep. Rader continued. “I will work to bring transparency, accountability, and a focus on long-term benefits to the siting process.”
