Young Supports Override of Governor Veto of HB 68
COLUMBUS – State Representative Tom Young (R-Washington Twp.) has voted in favor of overriding the veto of the SAFE Act and Save Women’s Sports Act by Gov. Mike DeWine.
Vetoed by the Governor Dec. 29, House Bill 68 will protect children who are experiencing gender dysphoria from sex change procedures including chemical castration through puberty blockers, and invasive surgical procedures. It also includes the Save Women’s Sports Act, which provides safeguards for women’s-only athletic competitions from kindergarten through college.
Young released the following statement about the vote:
“This vote symbolizes the Houses support of Ohio children,” said Young. “This state will not be a safe haven for doctors and hospitals to perform gender transition treatments on minors. The House has invested millions of dollars for mental health and counseling for those that are dealing with gender dysphoria.”
