Young Named Chair of Higher Education Committee
COLUMBUS—Ohio House Speaker Jason Stephens (R-Kitts Hill) appointed State Representative Tom Young (R-Washington Township) Tuesday to chair the House Higher Education Committee.
“This is a time for reform, there is a tremendous amount of work to do in higher education in Ohio,” said Young. “We must tear down the silos that currently exist and lay the foundation of cooperation, hard work and innovation for an even better future for our workforce. We can lead the nation and in order to do so we need to reach for the stars, far beyond what we could ever imagine. This is our time. This is Ohio’s time.”
Young previously served as the vice-chair of the Higher Education and Career Readiness Committee and served as a member of the Health, and Ways and Means committees.
“The Ohio House is a talented group of members with extensive experience, knowledge and a passion for public service,” said Stephens. “I look forward to a robust committee process that results in good public policy for Ohio.”
