Reps. Kelly and Upchurch announce bill to provide support for pregnant employees

COLUMBUS – State Reps. Brigid Kelly (D-Cincinnati) and Terrence Upchurch (D-Cleveland) today announced they have introduced legislation to require employers to make reasonable accommodations for pregnant employees. The bill would make it unlawful for employers to fail or refuse to make reasonable accommodations for pregnant workers and clarifies the law for employers. The bill encourages conversations between a pregnant worker and their employer about best next steps to ensure their safety and the health of their pregnancy. 30 other states, including Kentucky, have already moved to set clearer expectations around pregnancy accommodations.

Rep. Upchurch: Ohioans still deserve the freedom to make their own health care decisions after Supreme Court strikes down Roe v. Wade

 

COLUMBUS– State Rep. Upchurch (D-Cleveland) today issued a statement after the Supreme Court’s conservative majority struck down Roe v. Wade, which established the right to access safe and legal abortion care in the United States.

Reps. Weinstein and Upchurch introduce petition initiative bill to legalize adult-use cannabis

COLUMBUS—State Reps. Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson) and Terrence Upchurch (D-Cleveland) filed bill language today to formally introduce the initiated statute sponsored by the Coalition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol, which seeks to legalize recreational adult-use cannabis in Ohio.

Reps. Upchurch and Blackshear's bill to designate March 29 as "Ohio Tuskegee Airmen Day" passes Ohio House

COLUMBUS– State Reps. Upchurch (D-Cleveland) and Willis Blackshear (D- Dayton) today announced the Ohio House passage of House Bill (HB) 137, which would designate March 29 as “Ohio Tuskegee Airmen Day” to honor the legacy and history of the service members that served as Tuskegee Airmen during World War II.
