State Rep. Sharon Ray (R-Wadsworth) recently supported House Bill 45, which included $750,000 in funding for the Medina County Emergency Housing Shelter. The legislation was approved by the General Assembly during the last legislative session of the year.

“I am proud of the dedication and determination showed by the number of organizations working together to make an Emergency Housing Shelter in Medina County a reality,” Ray said. “The construction of the housing shelter has united our community - I will continue working hard to secure funding to make this project happen.”

Ray notes that from previous funding she secured, the Housing Network was able to begin to study the idea and concept for the shelter. Additionally, many organizations have been involved in discussions and efforts for the creation of the shelter to help those in need.

The Medina County Housing Network has worked to do a detailed needs assessment with a vision that all Medina County residents will have the opportunity to have a home and thrive. Overall, more than 30 organizations, including county organizations, religious groups and nonprofits, have been surveyed to learn more about the resources that have been given to those who need them.

The legislation now moves to the governor for his consideration.
