Ray Encourages Businesses to Apply for the TechCred Program

Sharon A. Ray News

State Rep. Sharon Ray (R-Wadsworth) announces that an application period for the state’s TechCred program is currently open and encourages businesses across the region to apply. The initiative allows businesses to apply for employees and future workers to earn credentials to assist in up-skilling their workforce.

“It’s been a goal of mine to assist individuals to find additional training courses or skills programs in order to help our workforce,” said Ray. “The TechCred Program is certainly a way for businesses to enhance their workforce development, retain jobs, and for workers to remain competitive within their career fields.”

The original legislation, under House Bill 2 of the previous General Assembly, was signed into law last year. The initiative provides guidance for TechCred grants and Industry Sector Partnerships as well as creates the Individual Micro Credential Assistance Program.

Ohio’s TechCred Program is currently helping Ohioans learn new skills and employers build a stronger workforce with the skills needed in a technology-infused economy.  These technology-focused credentials take a year or less to complete and prepare current and future employees for the technology jobs that Ohio employers seek.

The current application period is running from Jan. 4-29. Businesses can apply and find more information at techcred.ohio.gov.
