COLUMBUS—Ohio Governor Mike DeWine last week signed an executive order to launch the Ohio Adoption Grant Program, announced State Rep. Sharon Ray (R-Wadsworth).

The grant program will provide up to $20,000 to parents adopting a child under the age of 18.

“This grant program will provide families resources to support them through the adoption process,” said Ray. “It is my hope that all Ohio children are raised in a loving home.”

The grant program offers three levels of one-time payments:

·         $10,000 to anyone, except a stepparent, adopting a child under the age of 18.

·         $15,000 if the parent was a foster caregiver, including kinship caregivers, who cared for the child prior to adoption.

·         A $20,000 grant to families that adopt a child with special needs.

Parents who have finalized an adoption since January 1, 2023, can apply for the grant program at  AdoptionGrant.Ohio.gov.

Ray is spearheading House Bill 5, priority legislation that will modernize Ohio’s adoption process.
