Medina Metropolitan Housing Authority Awarded $600,000 Grant
COLUMBUS—State Rep. Sharon Ray (R-Wadsworth) is pleased to announce the Medina Metropolitan Housing Authority (MHA) was recently awarded grant funding to support Next Step Up, a new Emergency Housing Shelter in Medina County.
More specifically, the Medina MHA will receive $600,000 from the Ohio Housing Trust Fund Special Projects Grant Program administered by the Ohio Department of Development.
“This shelter is the first of its kind in Medina County,” said Ray. “It is intentionally designed to help people in crisis by providing them resources and a safe space as they work to get back on their feet. I am overjoyed to hear the MHA has received funding to support this effort! This project has been the result of collaboration between Medina County’s Churches, Social Service Agencies and elected officials - under the Leadership of Skip Sipos of the Medina Metropolitan Housing Authority. This "safety net" for our most vulnerable residents will fill a void that has existed for years.”
Strategically located to best serve its residents, the Shelter is designed to serve men, women, children, and guests’ pets. Some of its features include: a playground, laundry facilities, and computer stations.
