Rep. Brennan Commends Mayor DeGeeter of Parma, Mayor Bibb of Cleveland for Urging Governor to Enact Commonsense Gun Solutions

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Sean Patrick Brennan (D-Parma) today commends Mayor Timothy DeGeeter of Parma and Mayor Justin Bibb of Cleveland for signing the recent Ohio Mayor's Alliance’s letter to Governor DeWine calling for solutions to gun violence and youth access to firearms. Both mayors joined a coalition of mayors from Ohio’s 31 largest cities to voice their concerns with the ongoing gun violence epidemic harming Ohio’s citizens. 

“Growing up on my grandma’s farm, I learned as a young man how to be a responsible gun owner. As elected leaders, we need to work together to seek solutions to the plague of gun violence. When law enforcement, who I hear from often, express concern that something needs to be done because their jobs are getting harder, something needs to be done,” said Rep. Brennan.

The letter includes five solution-oriented recommendations for combating gun violence, including calls for research support, promoting gun violence awareness, enhancing law enforcement data sharing, and re-engaging legislative leaders on needed state law changes.
