Rep. Brennan Announces Substantial Funding For Ohio's Public Transportation Agencies
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Sean Patrick Brennan (Parma) today announced grants of $17.5M in funding for public transit agencies for 16 counties in Ohio. The funding will support public workforce transportation and the funding will be provided by ODOT’s Workforce Mobility Partnership Program.
“It is an honor to advocate for funding public transit in Cuyahoga and our surrounding counties. We know that these efforts will help more folks prepare for and enter the job market to improve their own lives and our local economy,” said Rep. Brennan.
The Workforce Mobility Program was first settled in Section 755.20 of House Bill 23 and makes $15M available each State Fiscal Year for 2024-2025 to back projects in rural and urban areas of Ohio. The program has a goal of providing convenient transport for workforce residents to places of work that are within or outside of their residential communities.
The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority acquired $300K for a Microtransit Workforce Feasibility Study, which will examine the utility of first and last mile Microtransit in western Cuyahoga and eastern Lorain counties
In addition, the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority obtained $500K for the development of its Transit Waiting Environment, which allows for additional bus stop infrastructure at stops with significant amounts of boarding passengers in job-dense areas.
