Rep. Brennan Announces Nearly $29.5M to Improve Housing Access Across Ohio
COLUMBUS - State Rep. Sean Brennan (D-Parma) today announced that nearly $29.5M in awards have been announced to help improve housing access in Ohio. The funding is part of the first round of the Welcome Home Ohio program, which is investing a total of $100M in grants over two years to help landbanks purchase, rehabilitate, or build qualifying residential properties for income-eligible Ohioans.
“One of my priorities has been to support policies that help attract and retain residents, especially young, first-time homebuyers to Ohio’s communities. As the father of two young adults, I think most folks share the same fear that I do – that our kids and grandkids will move out of state. Therefore, job creation programs and programs like this that expand our owner-occupied housing stock, which support this goal, are easy to get behind,” said Rep. Brennan.
The Welcome Home Ohio program was created in partnership with the Ohio General Assembly in the biennium budget bill, House Bill 33. In total, $29,482,200 in Welcome Home Ohio funding will be awarded to entities in 17 counties to support the creation of 263 owner-occupied, single-family homes.
