Rep. Brennan Announces $23M to Cuyahoga County for Economic Development Opportunities
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Sean Patrick Brennan (Parma) today announced that the state of Ohio has awarded $67.3M for the demolition of vacant, dilapidated, and otherwise blighted buildings to make way for economic development to revitalize Ohio’s communities. Over $23M is allocated for Cuyahoga County - primarily for properties in the city of Cleveland.
“As a member of Parma City Council for nearly two decades, I know how important it is to eliminate blight in our neighborhoods and commercial areas to improve the quality of life for our residents. As a member of the state legislature, it is an honor to advocate for funding to assist our local communities in this quest,” said Rep. Brennan.
The Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program is funded by the Ohio General Assembly as part of the current operating budget, which Rep. Brennan voted for.
All of Ohio's 88 counties were eligible for at least $500K, with the remaining funds awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.⿯ Additional grant recipients will be announced in the coming months.
Since the launch of the program, the Ohio Department of Development has awarded more than $200M in grants to support nearly 5,000 demolition projects in every county in the state.
