Representative Oelslager, Controlling Board Approves Rent and Utilities Assistance Program
State Rep. Scott Oelslager (R–North Canton), who sits on the State Controlling Board, announced that the body approved a measure creating a new fund to establish appropriation authority for the Development Services Agency in FY 2021.
The approval of this item will allow the use of federal funds made available from the Consolidated Appropriations Act 2021, to support state efforts to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Individuals and families are continuing to face financial burdens due to this pandemic,” said Oelslager. “I’m pleased to be a part of the approval process of this critical measure in order to assist Ohioans in making ends meet when it comes to rent and utility payments.”
The proposed fund will provide funds to assist Ohioans with rent, utilities, and home energy costs. Funds will be awarded according to low to moderate income populations and unemployment rates within each county determined by local community action agencies.
In total, the Controlling Board released $100 million for the project.
