State Rep. Scott Oelslager (R-North Canton) applauds House Bill 76, also known as the Ohio Industrial Commission (OIC) budget, for being signed into law this week. As Chairman of the Ohio House Finance Committee, Oelslager helped lead the bill through the General Assembly and served as the bill’s primary sponsor.

“I was once again very pleased to work with all of my colleagues in pushing through another supportive and critical budget for Ohioans,” said Oelslager. “These are very busy times with all the various budget bills and I commend everyone on their efforts for efficiently moving this bill through our institutional process.”

Along with the OIC budget, Oelslager is also the primary sponsor on the operating budget, workers’ compensation budget, and transportation budget. The transportation budget legislation, under House Bill 74, was already signed into law back in March.

Under House Bill 76, the two-year OIC budget handles appeals for workers’ compensation disputes. The budget each fiscal year provides $49.9 million for operating expenses, $3 million for payments to the Ohio attorney general’s office, and $1.15 million for rent at the OIC’s downtown Columbus offices.

The bill was previously passed in the House back in March with the Senate approving it in May. The legislation took immediate effect after being signed into law.
