Oelslager Provides Legislative Update from Ohio House

COLUMBUS—State Rep. Scott Oelslager (R-North Canton) is pleased to announce the recent passage of multiple pieces of legislation. 

Each bill is highlighted below: 

Human Trafficking Prevention Act (93-0): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, House Bill 47 will increase criminal penalties for human trafficking, kidnapping, and abduction.

Modify tax deductions for 529 plan and ABLE account contributions (93-0): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, House Bill 48 will raise the annual deduction limit for married, joint filers for contributions to state 529 plans and ABLE savings accounts and indexes the annual deduction limits to inflation beginning in 2026.

Authorize tax credit - small employers with health reimbursement (93-0): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, House Bill 133 will authorize a nonrefundable tax credit for small employers who offer Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements (ICHRAs) to their employees.

Regards the sale of used catalytic converters (91-2): House Bill 210 will increase penalties for catalytic converter theft and create more transparent guidelines for businesses when buying and selling catalytic converters.

Create the Farm Bureau Health Plan (90-3): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, Senate Bill 100 will create an opportunity for a more affordable healthcare coverage plan for members of Ohio Farm Bureau who are currently without healthcare coverage.

Permit schools to withhold directory information (91-0): House Bill 127 will allow school boards the permissive authority to withhold student directory information from public release.

Designate 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion Day (91-0): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, House Bill 204 will designate March 9th of each year in Ohio as 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion Day in honor of the only all-black female unit that served overseas during World War II.

Support Cleveland's offer to host the 2030 Special Olympics (90-0): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, House Resolution 101 will support the City of Cleveland’s offer to host the 2030 Special Olympics USA Games.
