Oelslager Provides Legislative Update from Ohio House

COLUMBUS—State Rep. Scott Oelslager (R-North Canton) is pleased to announce the recent passage of multiple pieces of legislation.
Each bill is highlighted below:
- Repeat Offender Act (71-24): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, House Bill 5 will increase the penalties for possession of a gun while “under disability” for violent felons and creates a new firearm specification for repeatedly being in possession of an illegal firearm.
- Regards law enforcement training and competitive examinations (95-1): House Bill 44 will grant police departments the ability to fill vacant positions without a competitive examination and allows police chiefs the ability to facilitate training programs for new cadets.
- Designate Cardiovascular Health Awareness Day (95-0): House Bill 104 will designate February 14th as Cardiovascular Health Awareness Day in Ohio.
- Regards age requirements for kindergarten admission (96-0): House Bill 114 will establish consistent kindergarten admission age requirements across Ohio.
- Support work of the Ohio Commission for U.S. Semiquincentennial (95-0): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, House Concurrent Resolution 6 will support the work of the Ohio Commission for the U.S. Semiquincentennial in celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary.
- Designate Rutherford B. Hayes Day (95-0): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, Senate Bill 21 will designate October 4th as Rutherford B. Hayes Day in Ohio.
