Oelslager Provides Legislative Update from Ohio House

COLUMBUS—Speaker Pro Tempore Scott Oelslager (R-North Canton) is pleased to announce the recent passage of multiple important pieces of legislation. 

Each bill is highlighted below: 

  • Direct State Funds for Economic Growth and Community Development (75-19): Cos-sponsored by Oelslager, House Bill 2 will allocate $350 million in one-time project funding from the Strategic Community Investment Fund. 
  • Add Capitalism to High School Financial Literacy Standards (66-26): Senate Bill 17 will require the State Board of Education to incorporate content related to free market capitalism into the now required financial literacy course in high schools.
  • Regards Workers' Comp Coverage for Certain Exposure Testing (94-0): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, Senate Bill 106 will correct an oversight in the Ohio Revised Code by expanding workers’ compensation coverage in cases where nurses or physicians are exposed to potentially hazardous bodily fluids.
  • Temporarily Authorize Tax Credit for Sale of High-Ethanol Fuel (88-6): House Bill 324 will create a limited time and scope, non-refundable tax rebate for a retail sales of high blend ethanol fuel.
