Oelslager Provides Legislative Update from Ohio House

COLUMBUS—Speaker Pro Tempore Scott Oelslager (R-North Canton) is pleased to announce the recent passage of multiple important pieces of House legislation.
Each bill is highlighted below:
- Enact the Brenna Brossard SUDEP Awareness Act (91-2): House Bill 229 will require health care practitioners to give patients written information that includes current, evidence-based information about sudden unexpected death in epilepsy risk factors and conditions and contact information for nonprofit organizations that provide information and support services for epilepsy conditions.
- Increase fine for repeatedly selling tobacco products to minors (83-8): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, House Bill 258 will increase penalties and fines for those who are caught repeatedly selling cigarettes, tobacco, or other alternative nicotine products to minors and make them subject to Ohio’s public nuisance law.
- Regards charitable solicitations (85-5): House Bill 184 will modernize Ohio’s Charitable Solicitations Law.
