Oelslager Provides Legislative Update from Ohio House

COLUMBUS—Speaker Pro Tempore Scott Oelslager (R-North Canton) is pleased to announce the recent passage of multiple important pieces of legislation.
Each bill is highlighted below:
- Designate Representative Kris Jordan Memorial Highway (90-0): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, House Bill 165 will name the portion of State Route 36 that runs in front of the late State Representative Jordan’s homesite as the Representative Kris Jordan Memorial Highway.
- Designate Town and Country Firefighter Lt. Philip M. Wigal Highway (90-0): House Bill 26 will establish the “Town and Country Firefighter Lt. Philip M. Wigal Memorial Highway.”
- Designate Brigadier General Charles Young Mem Historical Corridor (89-0): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, House Bill 253 will designate the area from the Charles Young National Monument in Wilberforce, Ohio to the Kentucky/Ohio Bridge in Ripley as the “Brigadier General Charles Young Memorial Historical Corridor.”
- Designate Specialist Dennis Alan Combs Memorial Highway (89-0): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, House Bill 202 will designate the “Specialist Dennis Alan Combs Memorial Highway.”
- Designate Black Maternal Health Week (90-0): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, House Bill 190 will designate the week of April 11 to April 17 as Black Maternal Health week.
- Urge Congress to make daylight saving time permanent (69-20): House Concurrent Resolution 7 will urge Congress to enact the Sunshine Uniformity Act of 2023, permanently transitioning Ohio to Daylight Saving Time.
- Create an adaptive mobility dealer license (89-1): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, House Bill 195 will create an adaptive mobility vehicle dealer license in the state of Ohio.
- Regards State Teachers Retirement Board elections, membership (89-0): House Bill 78 will address voting procedures within the State Teachers Retirement System by allowing re-employed retirants to be eligible to run for election either as a representative of the active members, or as a representative of the retired members.
- Urge Congress to repeal Windfall Elimination (85-0): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, House Concurrent Resolution 6 will protect retirees by urging Congress to repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision enacted in 1983.
- Designate May as Older Ohioans Month (88-0): House Bill 173 will recognize the contributions that older adults make by designating May as “Older Ohioans Month” in Ohio.
- Require private construction project owner timely pay contractors (76-12): House Bill 203 will require private sector owners of construction projects to provide payment to the prime contractors no more than 30 days after the prime contractors provide final invoices to the owners.
- Regards driver's license suspensions-failure to pay child support (84-0): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, House Bill 29 will implement driver’s license suspensions as a result of failure to pay child support.
