In Case You Missed It: Oelslager Highlights 2022-23 Hunting Seasons

May 6, 2022
Scott Oelslager News

Columbus – Recently, the Ohio Wildlife Council announced the 2022-23 dates for the state’s various hunting seasons.

An amendment to shorten the fall 2022 wild turkey hunting season was approved by the council, creating a 37-day season as opposed to the 57 days hunters enjoyed last year. The change aligns the fall season with the spring season.

A change was also made to the white-tailed deer archery season. In 2022, there will be a season opener in a three-county disease surveillance area in North Central Ohio. Due to an increase from two to eight positive tests for Chronic Wasting Disease, a fatal neurological disease that affects white-tailed deer and similar species, the season opener is a push to limit disease transmission.
