Heartland Behavioral Health to Receive Funds for Infrastructure Improvements
COLUMBUS – State Representative Scott Oelslager (R-North Canton) announced the Ohio Controlling Board released more than $630,000 Monday in state funding earmarked for infrastructure improvements to the Heartland Behavioral Healthcare facility.
The majority of the funding will be used to improve safety for patients at the facility. While the remaining funds will be set aside for electrical and roofing repairs.
“Heartland is providing a vital service for northeast Ohio’s most vulnerable citizens,” said Oelslager. “Financial assistance for this facility is paramount in getting these patients the help they need and I’m pleased the controlling board could provide the funding.”
Founded in 1898, Heartland Behavioral Healthcare is a state-owned and operated in-patient behavioral health care facility located in Stark County that provides care for acutely mentally ill adults.
The Ohio Controlling Board is the financial legislative oversight for capital and operating expenditures by state agencies. The next controlling board meeting is scheduled for Oct. 24.
