COLUMBUS - State Rep. Richard Dell’Aquila (D-Seven Hills) today shared the encouraging news that Cuyahoga County secured funding for the Freshwater Institute – a new program to increase climate-friendly initiatives and education, enhance water conservation and sustainability efforts, and increase the economic and workforce development of water-focused jobs.

“With each and every year that passes, the water quality of our region has been steadily improved through necessary funding and by the hard work of many conservationists,” said Rep. Dell’Aquila. “These measures are more encouraging examples of the work required to improve water quality and safety, along with the restoration of wildlife and native plants to the Lake Erie basin--all for the benefit of our residents and our descendants. We can continue to anticipate even more improvement in the years to come thanks to our shared and continued focus on protecting our environment.”

The grant – on behalf of the Cleveland Foundation – was announced during the Climate Leadership Conference in Cleveland. Additionally, Congresswoman Shontel Brown announced federal funding for the Freshwater Institute, as well as funding the City of Cleveland’s Division of Water Pollution Control.
