Rep. Dell'Aquila Again Calls for Additional Assistance and Urgent Legislative Action to Ease Potential Increases in Property Taxes

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Richard Dell’Aquila (D-Seven Hills) today called for the Ohio Legislature to urgently address the property tax increases that many Northeast Ohioans may face.

The 2024 Sexennial Reappraisal announced by Cuyahoga County shows an average increase of 32 percent in home values – although an increase in property valuations does not indicate an increase in property taxes, residents may see an increase. Residents can click here to estimate their new property taxes.

“Some of the constituents contacting our office are alarmed by the high percentage increase in our county property valuations and what that might mean for their property taxes,” said Rep. Dell’Aquila. “While residents may find that a rise in property valuations does not correlate to a similar rate of increase in their property taxes, many constituents will be feeling the hurt from this reappraisal process. I encourage everyone to utilize the county’s online tax estimating website as we brace for new valuations by mail.”

Residents have until August 30th to contest their property valuations either by mail or in person at the Cuyahoga County Administrative Building (2079 E. 9th, Street, 3rd Floor, Cleveland, OH 44115) or by filing electronically through the Cuyahoga County Informal Complaint Portal. Additionally, residents may file a Formal Tax Complaint electronically or by mail to the County Administrative Building between January 1, 2025 and March 31, 2025.

Rep. Dell’Aquila repeats the need for tax relief to assist homeowners having difficulty meeting their tax obligations in his op-ed. Click here to view.
