State Rep. Monica Robb Blasdel (R-Columbiana County) has sent letters to various agencies and other entities to urge them to contact her office to collaborate on efforts for finding solutions regarding the impacts of the derailment in East Palestine.
“I have met with the Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives and members of the General Assembly, and together, we stand ready to address the needs of the community and all Ohioans who are affected,” Robb Blasdel wrote in the letters.
The representative sent letters to ODOT, U.S. EPA, Ohio EPA, Ohio Fire Chief’s Association, Ohio Department of Agriculture, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Ohio Farm Bureau and the Ohio Department of Health.
Robb Blasdel outlined top concerns heard directly from constituents regarding the derailment and its aftermath, which includes air and water quality regarding health and safety concerns; addressing the long-term effects on animals, livestock, and crops for the farming community; the need for replacement of emergency response equipment for first responders; and assisting the business community with timely revenue losses and long-term economic impacts.
“As the State Representative, I am here to help my constituents as they have faced tremendous hardships due to the unfortunate impacts stemming from this accident. I remain ready and committed as I am focusing my efforts and resources at the Statehouse to ensure we rectify this situation efficiently and effectively,” Robb Blasdel added.
