Representatives Miller & King Give Sponsor Testimony for SOS (Secure Our Schools) Act

State Representatives Melanie Miller (R-Ashland) and Angie King (R-Celina) provided sponsor testimony in House Finance Committee on House Bill 106, the Save Our Schools (SOS) Act (formerly known as Alyssa’s Law) – legislation that works to enhance safety in Ohio school districts and communities by creating a pilot grant program that will allow schools the opportunity to purchase a variety of panic alert systems as well as artificial intelligence firearm detection software. These panic alert systems work to help accelerate law enforcement response time when life-threatening emergencies occur on school campuses.

Rep. Melanie Miller Introduces Fees and Fines Grace Period Bill, Supports Reentry for Formerly Incarcerated Ohioans

State Representative Melanie Miller (R-Ashland) held a press conference today introducing new legislation that works to provide a 180-day grace period on court-assessed fines and fees for formerly incarcerated Ohioans as they reenter society.

Miller Votes in Support of House Budget Bill, Approving Billions in Property Tax Relief for Ohioans

COLUMBUS – State Representative Melanie Miller (R-Ashland) last week voted in support of Am. Sub. House Bill 96 – the House’s version of the State Operating Budget. This forward-looking, fiscally responsible budget plan invests in Ohio families and the state’s future – approving over $4 billion in record property tax relief for Ohioans and ensuring that every school district in the state receives an increase in school funding in fiscal years 2026 and 2027.
