New Lexington Receives Grant for Water Treatment Plant
COLUMBUS – The Ohio Department of Development recently announced the latest recipients of water infrastructure grants through the Ohio BUILDS program. State Representative Mark Johnson (R-Chillicothe) is happy to announce the village of New Lexington will receive funding to make critical repairs to a water treatment filter in the area.
“Small villages are often overlooked when it comes to simple infrastructure development projects like this one,” said Johnson. “I’m thrilled the Department of Development recognizes what a difference grants like this will do for communities like New Lexington around the state.”
New Lexington has been operating with one filter for over a year. If the filter stops working, the entire community will be without water.
Specifically, the project:
Awards New Lexington $362,500 for critical repairs to the village’s water treatment plant
Replaces the village’s carbon dioxide tank, which is also at the end of its service life
Helps 4,681 people in the area by bringing stable water filter will bring to the community
The Ohio BUILDS Program awarded a total of $135 million that will fund infrastructure projects throughout 64 Ohio counties.
