Miller, Ohio House Approve State Budget Bill
COLUMBUS –The Ohio House of Representatives today passed the final version of the State Operating Budget, House Bill 33, for fiscal years 2024-25, announced State Rep. Kevin Miller (R-Newark). The budget bill includes funding for first responders, tax relief for all Ohioans, and several other initiatives.
Miller championed key budget provisions including:
Implementing the Next Generation 911 program in Ohio to ensure first responders can serve the public effectively
Allocating $75 million annually for the jail funding formula, which ensures that counties most in need get access to funds for renovation, demolition, and expansion
Providing funding to reduce monthly MARCS radio fees by $5 per radio
Investing $300,000 over the biennium to the Save A Warrior Program, which helps first responders struggling with PTSD
“I am glad to see funding for MARCS, Next Generation 911, and other provisions that will help first responders across the state in the budget,” said Miller. “Support for those who put their lives on the line to protect us every day is essential.”
The bill includes an income tax cut that simplifies and flattens the state income tax into two brackets.
Income tax rate of 2.75% for those making $26,000 to $100,000
Income tax rate of 3.5% for those making above $100,000
Miller also secured $500,000 for St. Vincent Family Services. SVFS offers families a comprehensive range of youth behavioral health services, including 24/7 residential care, individual and family counseling, and in-home and in-school care.
The budget now heads to Governor Mike DeWine for his signature.
