Rep. Brownlee's Bill Honoring Hamilton County Patrolman Signed Into Law

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Karen Brownlee (D-Symmes Twp) today announced Senate Bill (SB) 52 has been signed into law by Governor DeWine. Amended into this bill is House Bill (HB) 432 , legislation designating the portion of east Kemper Road in Hamilton County between Tri-County Parkway and Lebanon Road as the “Patrolman Earl W. Casterline Memorial Highway.” 

“Preserving the legacy of Patrolman Casterline, who gave his life in the line of duty, is a great tribute to his service in protecting Hamilton County communities,” said Rep. Brownlee. “I appreciate the partnership of his daughter, Lynne, and my colleagues in the Senate who worked hard to include HB 432 in the omnibus.”

Patrolman Casterline’s vehicle was struck by a train in October 1953 while in pursuit of a fleeing suspect. At the time of the incident, the railroad track was unmarked and obscured by trees and shrubs. Patrolman Casterline lost his life just before his 26th birthday..
