COLUMBUS — State Rep. Karen Brownlee (D-Symmes Twp) today joined the nation in recognizing National Gun Violence Awareness Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about gun violence, by joining Cincinnati’s Wear Orange event to stand in solidarity and honor survivors of gun violence.

“By blocking legislation to curb gun violence in Ohio, the Republican supermajority is allowing firearms to be the number one killer of our children and teenagers. I believe our kids deserve safe homes, schools, and communities. It is our job as adults to keep them safe,” said Rep. Brownlee.

Gun violence is the leading cause of death for children and adolescents in Ohio. Rep. Brownlee, along with other House Democrats, are busy preparing and introducing legislation in the month of June for Gun Violence Awareness Month in order to take the crucial first steps to end gun violence in America and make our communities safer.

Rep. Brownlee is a member of the Gun Violence Prevention Caucus and is committed to sponsoring, advocating, and voting for legislation that will help curb gun violence.
