COLUMBUS—State Rep. Justin Pizzulli (R-Scioto County) is pleased to announce that more than $6,426,700 will be directed towards two economic development projects in Adams County as part of the newly created Appalachian Downtowns and Destinations Initiative.

The funding will specifically be used to reconstruct the observation tower at Serpent Mound so that it may be reopened as a popular tourist destination. It will also be used by the Village of Peebles to make improvements to sidewalks, safety, and roadways including bump-outs and new crosswalks.

“Serpent Mound is a significant part of our region’s rich history and culture,” said Pizzulli. “Overall, this funding will enhance all that our district and the greater Appalachian region has to offer.”

In total, over $154 million was awarded to economic development projects, such as downtown revitalization and infrastructure improvements, throughout Ohio’s Appalachian region.
