Rep. Brent Warns Against Fiscally Irresponsible Legislation on Tax Day

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Juanita O. Brent (D-Cleveland) released the following statement on Tax Day:

“Tax Day is a bittersweet day for the majority of Ohioans,” said Rep. Brent. “Legislation like HB 1 and the proposed tax structure in the Ohio Operating Budget (HB 33) are threatening to steal resources from hardworking Ohioans to put more money into the pockets of the rich. Ohioans deserve to have free access to community resources like libraries, public schools, and metro-parks. We need to invest in working people by unrigging Ohio’s tax system, which currently makes working people pay more while the wealthy pay less.” 

HB 1 receives its sixth hearing today in the House Ways and Means Committee while the Operating Budget received its fourth hearing today in the House Finance Committee.
