COLUMBUS – State Rep. Juanita O. Brent (D-Cleveland) today proudly announced the celebration of March 26th as Equal Pay Day. In recognition of this day, Rep. Brent is reintroducing the Ohio Equal Pay Act to reaffirm House Democrats’ commitment to closing the wage gap and ensuring fairness in the workplace.

“It is not just about pay; it’s about fairness,” said Rep. Brent “This marks the 11th year the Ohio Equal Pay Act has been through the General Assembly. We owe it to Ohioans to eradicate wage disparities in our workplaces. Every Ohioan - no matter their gender or race - deserves to be paid what they are worth. Equal Pay for Equal Work.”

Ohio Equal Pay Day marks the ongoing fight for wage equality and highlights the persistent gender pay gap that women, particularly women of color, face in our state and across the nation.

The Ohio Equal Pay Act will empower employees, promote transparency, and create a level playing field in our workforce. The act mandates public employers to regularly update their job evaluation systems, which will promote fair compensation based on required skills and responsibilities.
