Rep. Brent Issues Statement on Students Right to Protest Following Demonstrations at Ohio Colleges

COLUMBUS - State Rep. Juanita O. Brent (D-Cleveland) today released the following statement regarding student protests at Ohio State University and Miami University.

“Democracy dies when we silence the voices of the people,” said Rep. Brent. “Students across the country have taken to peaceful, civil demonstration to let their schools and country hear their voice. Their right to organize and peacefully protest is what ensures our democracy. College students should be allowed to peacefully protest. The biggest threat to our democracy is silence.”
