Rep. Brent Issues Statement on Ohio Congressional Map

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Juanita O. Brent (D-Cleveland) today issued the following statement regarding the Ohio Republicans’ version of congressional map for the Ohio Redistricting Commission meeting.

“Under the Republican congressional map, Ohio will have three competitive congressional districts — not the fair 8–7 map that truly reflects Ohio’s voters,” said Rep. Brent. “Democracy will come down to every single vote in these swing districts, and Democrats will fight for every vote to ensure every Ohioan’s voice is heard.”

The redistricting commission’s decision will shape Ohio’s congressional districts until the next map redraw in 2031. Democrats have continued to call for a fair process that respects both the Ohio Constitution and the will of the voters who overwhelmingly supported reform in past statewide ballot measures.
