Rep. Brent: Gov. DeWine's Signature on SB 293 is a Step Backward for Voting Rights

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Juanita O. Brent (D-Cleveland) today released the following statement today expressing deep disappointment and concern after Governor Mike DeWine signed Senate Bill (SB) 293 into law last week.

“Senate Bill 293 was not about protecting election integrity—it was about controlling who gets to participate,” said Rep. Brent. “Democracy works best when every eligible voice is heard, not when politicians decide which voters are convenient. I will not stop fighting to ensure that every Ohioan—regardless of zip code, income, race, or ability—has equal access to the ballot. Our democracy depends on it.”
