Rep. Brent Calls on Governor DeWine to Bring Ohio's National Guard Home, Invest in Ohio

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Juanita O. Brent (D-Cleveland) today released the following statement concerning Governor Mike DeWine’s decision to send 150 National Guard members to support the District of Columbia National Guard:

“I am disgusted by Governor DeWine’s decision to send the Ohio National Guard to Washington, D.C. Our Guard members should be focused on protecting and serving Ohioans here at home—not being used as political pawns in partisan disputes hundreds of miles away. This is a misuse of their service and of Ohio’s resources,” said Rep. Brent. “At a time when our state faces urgent challenges—from rising property taxes, lack of quality jobs, and inaccessible childcare, the governor is misusing Ohio’s resources to score points in national politics.”
