Rep. Brent Applauds Passage of House Bill 644 Promote College Affordability and Preparedness

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Juanita O. Brent (D-Cleveland) today proudly announced the passage of House Bill (HB) 644 from the Ohio House. HB 644 is a piece of landmark legislation aimed at increasing college readiness and affordability for Ohio students.

“College affordability and preparedness must be a priority to make sure that high schoolers are not just graduating but are college ready,” said Rep. Brent. “HB 644 makes education one step closer to becoming the ultimate equalizer, while our current system leaves many students behind because of unnecessary hurdles”

This legislation is expected to bolster enrollment and success rates at several of Ohio’s leading higher education institutions, including:

·       Cleveland State University

·       Central State University

·       Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C)

·       Kent State University
