Demolish Academic Distress Commission Bill Introduced by Rep. Brent

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Juanita O. Brent (D-Cleveland) yesterday introduced House Bill (HB) 387, the Demolish Academic Distress Commission (ADC) Bill, to repeal the ADC in Ohio law.

“After eight years of an ineffective academic distress commission, East Cleveland, Lorain, and Youngstown school districts have been left with an education dictatorship that has not improved the quality of public education,” said Rep. Brent. “Demolishing the Academic Distress Commission gives the power back to our local communities’ school board members who are elected to make decisions for our students.”

HB 387 has been referred to House Primary and Secondary Education Committee and is awaiting it’s first hearing.
