COLUMBUS– State Reps. Joe Miller (D-Amherst) and Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson) today gave sponsor testimony before the Ohio House Transportation and Public Safety Committee on House Bill (HB) 346, which would lower the annual registration fee for plug-in electric and hybrid vehicles.

COLUMBUS – State Reps. Joe Miller (D-Lorain) and Lisa Sobecki (D-Toledo) today filed legislation that would provide tax relief to thousands of Ohioans whose unemployment benefits were issued late due to system errors from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS).

COLUMBUS- State Reps. Today, Rep. Joe Miller (D-Amherst) voted in favor of Substitute House Bill (HB) 169 to appropriate $4.18 billion to support education, expand access to childcare and improve public health, among other investments in Ohio’s working people, families and communities amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The bill is funded through several federal COVID-19 relief packages, the majority of which comes from the American Rescue Plan Act backed by Democrats and signed into law by President Biden earlier this year.

Rep. Joe Miller (D-Amherst) today voted in opposition to two bills opponents say would make schools and communities less safe and fail to address gun violence in Ohio. House Bill (HB) 99 would allow school districts to arm teachers in the classroom without adequate training or safe storage requirements, while HB 227 would eliminate concealed weapon training and safety standards, including penalties for failing to notify police of a concealed weapon during a stop. 

State Rep. Joe Miller (D-Amherst)  issued a statement today after the Redistricting Commission failed to meet its constitutional duty to release, hold three hearings on, and adopt a state legislative district map by Sept. 1. Even though other maps have been presented to the Commission, the Commission itself has neither produced nor worked on one, and co-chair Speaker Bob Cupp (R-Lima) has not given a date that the Commission will propose a map for review.

Ohioans who saw their benefits stolen by scammers will also be eligible for replacement payments.

COLUMBUS—Rep. Joe Miller (D-Amherst) issued a statement Tuesday following the passage of the state budget, House Bill 110, which included provisions that phase out Academic Distress Commissions in order to restore local control and the Fair School Funding Plan, an improved public school funding formula that better addresses the needs of Ohio students, teachers and communities. The budget also included provisions that allow for veterans’ charitable gambling, as well as $250 million for broadband development in underserved areas.
