Rep. Miller announces state support for LCCC job training program
State Rep. Joe Miller (D-Amherst) today announced the release of $21,906 in state funding for Lorain County Community College (LCCC) to purchase new equipment to support the Micro-Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) Associates and Bachelor’s degree programs.
“Lorain County Community College is at the forefront of workforce development for in-demand fields, and this new equipment continues that tradition,” said Miller. “I’m excited to see the state investing in programs that will help LCCC prepare students from our region for jobs in a high-tech 21st century economy.”
The funding will be used to purchase static-dissipative lab benches and storage drawers for those pursuing a MEMS degree. MEMS technology is used in a variety of consumer and industrial products, such as ink jet printers, pressure sensors, and infrared devices.
The funds were approved by the state Controlling Board, which oversees state spending.
