Rep. Miller announces ODNR boating safety grant for Lorain County non-profit
State Rep. Joe Miller (D-Amherst) today announced the release of over $21,000 in grant funding from the Ohio Department of Natural Resource (ODNR) Division of Parks and Watercraft for community boating safety education with Lorain County Kayak & Paddlesports Group (LoCo ‘Yaks), a marine education and recreation non-profit.
“I am pleased to see LoCo ‘Yaks receive this well-deserved support from the state,” said Rep. Miller. “By investing in boating safety, we are also investing in the opportunity for a new generation of Lorain County residents to responsibly enjoy Lake Erie, the Black River and numerous other waterways in the region.”
In addition to providing safety education, LoCo ‘Yaks is a leader in marine debris prevention. Rep. Miller has been among the many volunteers who have participated in the group’s annual Black River clean-up.
The release of funds to Lorain County is one of 13 total grants awarded by ODNR for Boating Safety Education Programs across the state.
