Rep. Joe Miller's resolution to honor the Ohio National Guard's COVID-19 relief efforts passes committee
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Joe Miller (D-Amherst) announced today that House Resolution (HR) 75 has been favorably reported out of the Armed Forces and Veteran’s Affairs Committee. HR 75 is a joint-sponsored resolution with State Rep. Adam Miller (D-Columbus) and honors the Ohio National Guard (ONG) for its relief efforts during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The resolution particularly highlights the ONG’s work to assist Ohio’s 14 foodbanks and 3,600 hunger relief agencies.
“I am extremely proud of the efforts of our Ohio National Guard to assist millions of Ohioans during a time of need. The Guard’s logistical expertise and manpower was utilized to the highest degree at a time where much was unknown about food security and frankly, the future. I applaud these men and women and believe we should be doing even more for our active service members and veterans,” said Rep. Miller.
While the Ohio National Guard and Military Reserve have deployed more than 400 members to assist these food banks and families, the 1.6 million Ohioans who were served prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic remain more at risk for hunger, isolation from support networks, and lacking mental health services.
