Rep. Joe Miller of Ohio House District 53 Sworn Into the 136th General Assembly

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Joe Miller (D-Amherst) Monday was sworn into the 136th Ohio General Assembly. Rep. Miller will be beginning his fourth term in the legislature, serving the people of Amherst, Avon Lake, Lorain, Sheffield, and Sheffield Lake at the Ohio Statehouse.

“I am honored to represent the hardworking people of District 53,” said Rep. Miller. “This General Assembly, I look forward to working on initiatives that matter most to our community. My priorities include bringing more budget appropriations back to the district and Lorain County, in addition to increasing funding for schools allowing for more staff and salaries while reducing unfunded mandates and discriminatory policies. Furthermore, I am prioritizing assisting local law enforcement by increasing the efficiency of the police hiring system and strengthening the police and fire pension fund, as well as supporting Gold Star Families by designating the Honor and Remember flag to honor fallen service members. Finally, working across industries and institutions so that generative AI is used ethically and supports our founding values of freedom, justice and opportunity in Ohio and our democratic republic. These efforts will be worked simultaneously with the needs brought forth by my constituents while I advocate for them in the General Assembly.”

As a legislator, Rep. Miller’s top priorities are advocating for quality education, jobs for hardworking Ohioans, opportunities for green energy expansion, and assistance to our veterans.
