Rep. Joe Miller Announces $1,612,935 Award for Second Round of Career Technical Education Equipment Grant Program to Amherst Schools
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Joe Miller (D-Amherst) today announced that Amherst Schools will be the recipient of a $1,612,935 Career Technical Equipment Grant for their manufacturing program, one of only 34 schools in the state to receive funds. The funding is intended to upgrade equipment to teach students the skills needed by Ohio’s businesses.
“One of the key focuses I had when running for state representative was to advance Career Tech and Workforce Development starting in our high schools and higher education,” said Rep. Joe Miller. “I am proud to have supported this initiative bringing funds to my alma mater, Marion L. Steele High School. Graduates of Amherst’s Manufacturing program will have a competitive advantage in the new economy.”
Ohio’s Career Technical programs provide students the opportunity to explore a career, earn industry credentials, and work towards success beyond high school. The first round of the Career Technical Education Equipment Grant Program awarded 57 school grants to expand access to an additional 10,545 students per year.
