Legislation Honoring Specialist Dennis Alan Combs Passes House Committee

COLUMBUS –The House Transportation Committee passed legislation to designate the “Specialist Dennis Alan Combs Memorial Highway,” announced bill sponsor State Rep. Jim Thomas (R- Jackson Twp.).

House Bill 202 will memorialize Combs by designating a portion of U.S. Route 62 in Canton as the “Specialist Dennis Alan Combs Memorial Highway.” Specialist Combs of Canton served as a medical specialist with the 44th Medical Brigade, 128th Medical Company. 

“Combs bravely served his country and made the ultimate sacrifice,” said Thomas. “Designating a portion of U.S. Route 62 is a great way to commemorate his service.”

Combs was fatally wounded on June 16, 1967. He was 23 years old.

The legislation was voted out of committee with no opposition and now awaits a vote on the House Floor.
