COLUMBUS – State Representative Jennifer Gross (R-West Chester) is pleased to announce that the Ohio House of Representatives last week passed House Concurrent Resolution 8 – legislation to urge U.S. Congress to make the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) permanent to ensure continued prosperity through lower and simpler tax obligations for citizens and businesses.

Introduced in 2017 in the U.S. House of Representatives and championed by President Trump, the TCJA is an overhaul of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, reforming almost every facet of tax collection in the United States. As written under current law, many provisions are set to sunset in 2025, prompting H.C.R. 8.

“Should these provisions expire, hardworking Americans would experience significant tax increases and stall economic growth,” said Gross. “These tax cuts brought substantial relief to over 100 million Americans and it is essential to maintain them.”

House Concurrent Resolution 8 now goes to the Senate for further consideration.
