COLUMBUS—State Reps. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) and Sedrick Denson (D- Cincinnati) recently introduced House Bill 619, legislation to expand access to breast cancer screenings in Ohio by removing common financial barriers.

Key provisions of the bill are as follows:

  • Removes the current cost sharing requirement for patients receiving a screening;
  • Removes the reimbursement cap for providers; and
  • Expands coverage for diagnostic screenings.

“Early detection of breast cancer saves lives,” said Schmidt. “This legislation will remove barriers and increase access to critical medical care.”

“This bill signifies hope and progress for countless families across our state.” said Denson. “By eliminating financial obstacles, we can improve the opportunity for early detection and better outcomes for all Ohioans.”

House Bill 619 awaits a House committee assignment.
