COLUMBUS – State Representative Jason Stephens (R-Kitts Hill) recently introduced House Bill 151, legislation that aims to establish a consistent funding stream, using only surplus revenue, to fund future transportation needs across Ohio.

House Bill 151 will maintain existing rainy day fund thresholds (10% of GRF), cap the sales tax holiday fund at $250 million, and direct any remaining funds over the $250 million to critical road and bridge projects.

“This commonsense legislation demonstrates fiscal responsibility, makes our roads safer, and supports Ohio’s workforce, especially in rural communities,” said Stephens.

The legislation will also extend the Connect4Ohio program which helps improve commutes through infrastructure updates and connect Ohio workers to employment centers.

House Bill 151 awaits consideration from the House Transportation Committee.
